Tulum Real Estate – Enjoying Your Mayan Jungle Paradise, in Modern Comfort
If you choose to buy Tulum real estate, you will soon be enjoying a Mayan jungle paradise a way that few people have experienced – namely, all the relaxation of the area’s mystical history, yet in modern comfort. The following are some examples of how you can enjoy, completely and at the same time.
Buy in a natural development
Tulum homes for sale that incorporate natural and eco-friendly design are becoming more and more common. There are some developments which use only natural, local materials and preserve the majority of the natural jungle, yet have beautiful modern home designs where residents can live with nature all around them but with all modern comforts as a part of day to day life. Lots for sale in this kind of development are another excellent option.
Consider condos near the beach
Even if an eco-development is not your thing, you can enjoy close contact with this same beautiful nature if you buy a Tulum condo for sale near the beachfront. While there are no condos directly on the beach, there are definitely some within walking distance. The nice thing is that the walk goes directly through beautiful natural areas. Not too far from the road running from the town to the beach, there is a protected natural park for your enjoyment, as well as the Sian Kaan biosphere reserve about 20 minutes out of town. It is one of the most biologically diverse natural areas in the world.
Enjoy the beachfront – The area’s beaches without a doubt an important part of the natural setting. The beaches are, in fact, considered to be the most beautiful in the world by many travelers. The connection to the mystic aspect of the area’s history is accentuated by the pyramids of Tulum which overlook the beach front the top of a cliff.
Consider “eco-glamor” design – There are exhibitions and events in Tulum which offer property fixtures which are both environment-friendly and elegant, and also emphasize the enjoyment of the area’s nature. An example is full-wall glass doors that fold away to open up the home as an indoor-outdoor space. Even when they are closed, you can fully enjoy the view of the surrounding jungle.
Living in Tulum always has nature and the mysteries of the Mayan civilization at its heart, whether you choose an eco-lifestyle to emphasize these aspects, or enjoy them simply by living there.

The Jungle $10.99 Upton Sinclair’s dramatic and deeply moving story exposed the brutal conditions in the Chicago stockyards at the turn of the nineteenth century and brought into sharp moral focus the appalling odds against which immigrants and other working people struggled for their share of the American dream. Enriched eBook Features Editor Jonathan Beecher Field provides the following specially commissioned features for this Enriched eBook Classic: * Chronology * Filmography (and the 1914 The Jungle Film Poster) * Early Twentieth-Century Reviews of The Jungle * Suggestions for Further Reading * The Jungle and the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 * The Jungle Book Cover Designs * Federal Food and Drugs Act of 1906 * Immigrants and the Meatpacking Industry, Then and Now * Images of the Chicago Stockyards * Images of Cuts of Beef and Pork * Enriched eBook Notes The enriched eBook format invites readers to go beyond the pages of these beloved works and gain more insight into the life and times of an author and the period in which the book was originally written for a rich reading experience. |

A Dead Artist Can Make a Good Living: The Adventures of Jonathan Owen $18.38 The author is a retired cartographer and graphic artist from the Government of British Columbia. He left Canada in his Jeep, Silver Bullet, to live for a time in the tropics of Mexico. There and on his return he wrote the book Jonathan Owen, Silver Bullet and Bank Robber. The Mexican people, black volcanoes, jungle landscape, torrid climate and a 25 year old woman who robbed banks in North Africa, inspired him to write. On his return from Mexico the author embarked on the book A Dead Artist Can Make a Good Living. The author fictionalizes the stories of his experiences into those of his character Jonathan Owen. In A Dead Artist Can Make a Good Living Jonathan Owen commits a crime in the Muskwa Kitchika district of Northern British Columbia and flees to Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco. In pursuit of him is Constable Jack Garland from the North West Mounted Police Detachment, Fort Nelson, British Columbia, . With the assistance of Interpol and the police forces of the European Union the Officer pursues Jonathan across the south of Europe not realizing he and the rest of the world are part of an elaborate hoax. Jonathan Owen is 60, full of life and adventure and knew perhaps he will become bored with his retirement when it happens. So through his work as a civil servant in the Government of British Columbia he masterminds, with the help of his daughter, a scheme that will make them both a fortune. On his retirement and his return from Mexico, Jonathan hatches his project. Jonathan did not realize how demanding, physically and mentally the project would be. Neither did the author who went to the places his character did. |

A Handful of Dust $21 (Book Jacket Status: Jacketed) Evelyn Waugh''s 1934 novel is a bitingly funny vision of aristocratic decadence in England between the wars. It tells the story of Tony Last, who, to the irritation of his wife, is inordinately obsessed with his Victorian Gothic country house and life. When Lady Brenda Last embarks on an affair with the worthless John Beaver out of boredom with her husband, she sets in motion a sequence of tragicomic disasters that reveal Waugh at his most scathing. The action is set in the brittle social world recognizable from Decline and Fall and Vile Bodies, darkened and deepened by Waugh''s own experience of sexual betrayal. As Tony is driven by the urbane savagery of this world to seek solace in the wilds of the Brazilian jungle, A Handful of Dust demonstrates the incomparably brilliant and wicked wit of one of the twentieth century''s most accomplished novelists. |

A Prisoner of Morro; Or, in the Hands of the Enemy (Dodo Press) $16.56 Upton Beall Sinclair Jr. (1878-1968), who also wrote under the pseudonyms Ensign Clark Fitch and Frederick Garrison, was a prolific American author who wrote over 90 books in many genres and was widely considered to be one of the best investigators advocating socialist views and supporting anarchist causes. He achieved considerable popularity in the first half of the 20th century. An early success was the Civil War novel Manassas, written in 1903 and published a year later. It was originally projected as the opening book of a trilogy, but the success of his 1906 novel The Jungle caused him to drop his plans. He gained particular fame for The Jungle, which dealt with conditions in the U. S. meat packing industry and caused a public uproar that partly contributed to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act in 1906. |

Actions and Reactions $16.1 Imagine an alternate reality where the man who gave the world THE JUNGLE BOOK and Gunga Din and The Phantom 'Rickshaw was a science fiction writer -- generations before Hugo Gernsbeck and AMAZING; before the pulp SF that dominated the thirties; before intellectually prescient ASTOUNDING in the forties and sophisticated literary SF magazines like GALAXY and THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION fifties. Think of it: a world where Rudyard Kipling was a science fiction writer, long before SF as we understand it was invented. Well (you could tell this is where I was going, couldn't you?) actually, he was. And the book you're holding in your hands -- ACTIONS AND REACTIONS -- is a wonderful example of it. It feels a lot like the sort of sophisticated SF -- literary without being precious -- we all remember from the Golden Age of GALAXY and THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION. Imagine that. We live in an alternate universe. |

Are We Alone? $28.9 In the jungle of Puerto Rico, next to a giant aluminum telescope bowl, we meet astronomers Peter Backus and Jill Tarter of the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) program. This research program is determined to find evidence of extraterrestrial life by searching for its radio signals. They hope to catch radio waves created by some kind of life far out in space. These scientists love their work: Arriving in the control room, Jill puts on a tape of her favorite samba music by a group called Viva Brazil. Others in the room stay seated and propel themselves on their wheeled office chairs from workstation to workstation, but Jill usually gets up and sambas across the floor. In this rare combination of engaging narrative and factual information, Gloria Skurzynski uses techniques she's developed as a fiction writer to energize her science writing. This book not only brings the reader into the world of extra-terrestrial science, but is also very much about the hopes and dreams of real people. She lends a strong personal voice to the narrative, drawing the reader deep into the world of extraterrestrial study. Humans have always been fascinated with extraterrestrial life, and the book traces that interest, including the origination of the term flying saucer. Sloan also explains why scientists don't buy it. There's been no hard evidence, not a single artifact left behind-a lost boot, or a shred of whatever material the UFO was made of, or even a flake of alien skin. But not believing in flying saucers doesn't mean scientists don't believe in extraterrestrial life. They look for it using telescopes, space missions, and planet explorations. They study extremophiles, organisms thatlive in extreme environments on Earth, in the hopes that they will lead us to a better understanding of how life may exist in space. Really, what could be out there? This book visits scientists across the globe who are trying to find out, from Puerto Rico to California, from Socorro, N |

Bali: Jungle of Signs $30.12 Today's most intriguing and evocative imagery is to be found all around us, particularly on the street. In Bali, for example, the streets act as a canvas for a unique culture of images that include hand-painted advertisements, lettering and many other graphic mediums of expression. So powerful is the creativity displayed on Balinese Streets that during a recent working visit to the island, Swiss artist and graphic designer Donald Neuburger, decided to dedicate a book to it. Bali: A jungle of Signs captivates the enormous wealth of images and unique typography that exist on Bali's city streets, especially the hand-crafted letters with their splendid cast shadows and intricate serifs. More art than advertisement these beautifully executed works provide a different perspective of the native culture of this Indonesian island popular with Western tourists and pay homage to its craftsmen. |

Big Men, Little People $60 The Sixties were a heady time for Africans. All over the continent colonial flags were being lowered and Africans looked forward to freedom and a glittering future. But for most of the continent the last forty years have been a shattering experience. Since independence Africans have been terribly betrayed by the Europeans, the superpowers, and tragically, by their own leaders. Can a new generation of leaders turn the tide? Will they learn from their predecessors' mistakes and fuel a new African renaissance? Or is Africa doomed to further decades of turmoil? In this witty and informative book, Alec Russell answers these questions by telling the stories of his encounters with Africa's Big Men. Each one represents a theme which has shaped the continent: Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, the King of Kleptocracy whose staggering corruption crippled Zaire; Jonas Savimbi, the life-long guerrilla and symbol of the Cold War's destructive legacy on the continent: the quixotic Hastings Banda, the ultimate product of colonialism; and, of course, Nelson Mandela, symbol of reconciliation and hope for an entire continent.By any measure, this has been a terrible century for Africa. However Russell detects signs of hope in the fledgling human rights troupe he encounters deep in the steamy heart of the Congolese jungle and in the group of journalists keeping Moi's tottering regime in Kenya on its toes.Big Men, Little People is a vividly written portrait of a continent, which avoids the usual stereotypes and dire prophecies and entertains from start to finish. |

Binder Paper Memories $42.79 Binder Paper Memories is a collection of thoughts, ideas, fears, skits and events that took place in Kyle's life from the age of 14 to the age of 19. The book is designed to distract, to strike the reader into a world inhabited by talking seagulls, explosive pennies, heroic cliff stories and running starfish, rather than suffer and feel alone in the real world surrounded by cubicles and reality TV shows. Growing up, Kyle watched Andy Kaufman perform at the Carnegie Hall, Pauly Shore whack a panda mascot in the head and Guns-N-Roses perception of Los Angeles in Welcome to the jungle. Highly influenced by these idols and well endowed by his father's grasp of humor and laughter, Kyle soon dedicated himself to entertaining others. I remember my father laughing all of the time states Kyle today, and doing really weird things, anyone around him was happy and laughing as well... even when they didn't understand, and I want to do the same for them. Argued as one of the most bizarre journals ever created, Binder Paper Memories also contains some of the most touching aspects from the young writer, There are some really insane things going in the book, but mixed every here and there, are true expressions and feelings I felt I should share, to represent emotion and compassion in the midst's of confusion... as it often is in life... it seems to be thrown together randomly, but I tried very hard to help the reader forget anything negative or bothersome around them, I figured the weirder it was, the farther they could slip into the rabbit hole. |

British Web Equipment of the Two World Wars $19.95 The outbreak of WW1 in 1914 found the British Army unready in many respects for a new age of warfare. However, the British led the world in the personal equipment worn by the infantryman thanks to an American officer named Anson Mills and the skills of the company created to produce his design – the 1908 equipment set made in woven cotton web. By the outbreak of WW2, the British infantry had new 1937 pattern equipment, whose design reflected a new generation of weapons and tactics. This proved unequal to the special demands of jungle warfare in the Far East: so 1944 saw yet another set of kit. In this book the author offers collectors and students of militaria a detailed review of these infantry equipments which spanned the British soldier’s combat experience throughout most of the 20th century. |

Through an arresting division of its pages– thriteen wildly imaginative short stories at the top, and a passionate essay on colonialism and Southeast Asia at the bottom, running like a Mekong River footnote throughout the book– Brian Fawcett startles, amuses, and infuriates his hooked readers with juxtaposed images and penetrating insights into the media jungle that defines our age. Like subtitles read in a foreign film, the pace of Cambodia accelerates, and the reader’s eye quickens as the work unfolds. Soon, Cambodia is moving more swiftly than the images on the evening news, showing us that the book’s title is not an enigma, but a realistic description of its remarkably interactive contents. Days of Valor $32.95 In this book the reader enters a nonstop maelstrom of combat action, leaving he or she nearly breathless by the end. The human courage and carnage described in these pages resonates through the centuries, from Borodino to the Bulge, but the focus here is on the Vietnam War, and a unique unit formed to take part at its height. The 199th Light Infantry Brigade was created from three U.S. infantry battalions of long lineage, as a fast reaction force for the U.S. to place in Indochina. As the book begins, in December 1967, the brigade has been in Vietnam for a year, and many of its battered 12-month men are returning home. This is timely, as the Communists seem to be in a lull, and the brigade commander, in order to whet his new soldiers to combat, requests a transfer to a more active sector, just above Saigon. Through January the battalions scour the sector, finding increasing enemy strength, NVA personel now mixed within Viet Cong units. But the enemy is lying low, and a truce has even been declared for the Vietnamese New Year, the holiday called Tet. On January 30, 1968, the storm breaks loose, as Saigon and nearly every provincial capital in the country is overrun by VC and NVA, bursting in unexpected strength from their base camps. In these battles we learn the most intimate details of combat, as the Communists fight with rockets, mortars, Chinese claymores, mines, machine guns and AK-47s. The battles evolve into an enemy favoring the cloak of night, the jungle-both urban and natural-and subterranean fortifications, against U.S. forces favoring direct confrontational battle supported by air and artillery. When the lines are only 25 yards apart, however, there is little way todistinguish between the firepower or courage of the assailants and the defenders, or even who is who at any given moment, as both sides have the other in direct sight. Many of the vividly described figures in this book do not make it to the end. The narrative is jarring, because even though the a |

Decade of the Dacoits $50.84 The word Dacoit translates roughly as highwayman and is a particularly feared phenomenon in some parts of Pakistan and India, most especially in the Pakistani Province of Sindh. The dacoits of Sindh are famous for their daring raids, and their capacity to loot, plunder, even murder and kidnap, and disappear swiftly into the jungle hideouts of their forest habitats. During the ten-year period from 1984-1994, the dacoits of Sindh became almost all-powerful, espcially in the towns and rural areas of the Province, and the police, even the army, could not contain them. This book traces the history of the dacoits of Sindh, and investigates the origins of the phenomena, and examines the forces that gave impetus to the problem, and even succored the dacoits in terrorizing the local population with impunity. |
